It has passed two decades since Americans faced terror attacks. Nineteen hijackers attacked the united states of America in September 2001. The hijackers belonged to the militant Islamic organization al Qaeda. Osama bin Laden, al Qaeda leader, declared holy war in the 1990s. Thus, Osama bin Laden issued a fatwa in which he criticized the government of America for providing financial assistance to the Saudi royal family and its utmost military intervention in matters of the Arab world.
A Letter to Americans
In his letter to Americans in November 2001, his motivations were published in which he made all his motives clear that al Qaeda will stand and fight for their Muslim brother in Somalia, Muslim brothers in Chechnya who are under the atrocities of Russia, and Kashmiri Muslim who have been living in ghettos since long, and the presence of the US troops in Saudi Arabia.
These attacks were made by nineteen terrorists who hacked four commercial air flights scheduled to travel from northern California. Two hijacked flights crashed into the twin towers of the world trade center, new york, and a third plane crashed into the American military’s headquarters, the pentagon, in Arlington, Virginia. In contrast, the fourth was intended to hit Washington DC but could not happen due to the passenger’s revolt. This incident caused the death of 3000 people.

After the attack, President Bush said they hated us because of our freedom. In the speech to congress nine days after the attack, he said they hate what we see in this chamber; he was referring to the democratically elected government. In short, he said they hate our freedom of speech, our freedom of religion, and our freedom to vote and to agree or disagree with the opinion of others.
Before the attack, al Qaeda
A proclamation was released before the attack that provided insight into the attack’s motivation. There were two fatwas, one in 1996 and the second in February 1998. Both fatwas appeared in the Arabic language London newspaper Al Quds al Arabi. It went to such an extent that al Qaeda stated a fatwa before the attack, saying that “we, with God’s help, call every Muslim who believes in God and wishes to be rewarded to comply with God’s order to kill the Americans and plunder them to teach them a lesson.
Conclusion
Great nations never forget incidents like this, and this event is one of those affairs that change the course of history. Now, after eleven years, Americans remember the 9/11 attacks last Sunday with tear-choked tributes and pleas never to forget the deadliest terror attack on American soil. People after two decades say that no matter how many years may pass, no one can explain how it happened. At the Pentagon, US president joe Biden vowed that America would keep working to eradicate terrorism in the world, and they will continually be working hard to provide the people with their rights of freedom under the umbrella of democracy.
