Jada Pinkett Smith honors Tupac Shakur’s 50th Birthday with a Never Before Seen Poem from the late Rapper

Date:

Jada Pinkett Smith honors Tupac Shakur’s 50th birthday with a never-before-seen poem from the late rapper. On Sept. 13, 1996, only three months after his 25th birthday, Tupac Shakur was notoriously assassinated by a drive-by fire in Las Vegas. That didn’t stop people from remembering him on Wednesday, even on two of his renowned pals, when he was 50 years old.

In a Jan 2020 interview with New York radio station, The Breakfast Club Power 105.1 told Smith that “They grew up and loved one other.” “He was simply the vision of perfection, and she simply loved him.

The two of them were intimate for a while, then they had a dispute and were distanced till he passed. Pinkett Smith herself claimed.

The initial inspiration for his song ‘Lost Souls’ was included in the soundtrack for the 1997 crime thriller ‘gang connected’. She claimed that Shakur composed this poem in New York during his imprisonment on Rikers Island when he was convicted of a sexual attack in the 1990s.

On her show Red Table talk, Jada has also said that Tupac was one of those people I expected to be here in the past. My upset is more anger because I feel like he left me, and I know that’s not true. It’s a very selfish way to think about it. I did believe he’d be here for the long run, and when I think about it, I still get furious Jada and Tupac were born three months apart, and he would have turned 50 on June 16th.

Instagram Post:

On what would have been Tupac Shakur’s 50th birthday, Jada Pinkett Smith was taking a walk down memory lane. Tupac Amara Shakur would have been 50 at midnight tonight, Jada says on Instagram. As we prepare to celebrate his legacy, let’s remember him for what we loved most, his way with words. Here are a few you may have never heard before she goes on to share a handwritten poem that the late rapper who died in 1996 had shared with his longtime friend.

POEM

Lost Soulz

By T. Shakur

Some say nothing gold can last forever

And 2 believe this (I) need no proof

I have witnessed all that was pure in me

Be changed by the evil men can do

The innocence possessed by children

Once lived inside my soul

But surviving years with criminal peers

has turned my warm heart to cold

I used 2 dream and fantasize

But now I’m scared 2 sleep

petrified, not to live or die

But to awaken and still be me

It is true that nothing gold can last

We will all one day see death

When the purest hearts are torn apart

Lost souls are all that’s left

Down on my knees, I beg of God

to save me from this fate

Let me live to see what was gold in me

Before it is all too late
