As coworkers, Kim Sejeong and Nam Yoon Su have a distinct chemistry. In “Today’s Webtoon,” Kim Sejeong and Nam Yoon Su will turn into coworkers who couldn’t be more dissimilar!
“Today’s Webtoon,” a Korean version of the blockbuster 2016 Japanese series “Sleepeeer Hit!” is a new SBS drama set against the backdrop of South Korea’s competitive webtoon industry. It will chronicle the narrative of On Ma Eum (Kim Sejeong), a former judo athlete who works as a new employee in Neon Webtoon’s editorial department and fights to evolve into a real editor in South Korea’s competitive webtoon business.
Kim Sejeong plays On Ma Eum, an Olympic hopeful who abandons her aspirations after sustaining an injury. However, the optimist turns her attention to webtoons, which she has relied on since she was a child. She enters the webtoon editing department after defying all odds, and she’s a rookie employee who maintains a cheerful attitude in the face of adversity.
Nam Yoon Su plays Goo Joon Young, a webtoon editor who works with On Ma Eum. Goo Joon Young, an elite new employee, has always been a top student with nice looks and a knack with words. When these characteristics are combined with his nice manners and positive attitude, he is always in the limelight.
On Ma Eum and Goo Joon Young differ in that she is overjoyed to be a part of Neon Webtoon’s editing department, whilst he is surprised to be put in such an unusual work atmosphere.
On Ma Eum and Goo Joon Young are beginning to adjust to their new job in the newly released stills. The fundamental distinction is that, whereas On Ma Eum is full of optimism, Goo Joon Young is already struggling. On Ma Eum demonstrates the attributes of a good coworker by assisting Goo Joon Young in carrying certain belongings, including a life-sized standee, despite the fact that Goo Joon Young has difficulty climbing the stairs.
On Ma Eum and Goo Joon Young come from very different origins, have quite distinct personalities, and have very different ideals. For On Ma Eum, Neon Webtoon is a location where her second dream might come true, but for Goo Joon Young, it is a place where he must flee in order to work for the company’s core department.
Despite having been an honors student his entire life, Goo Joon Young is viewed as an inferior at work due to his lack of expertise about webtoons. However, On Ma Eum is the most perplexing to him. He finds her inclination to be enthusiastic and upbeat in every scenario perplexing, and it appears that they will not get along. So it’ll be interesting to see what sparked their friendship and how he will open up to her as they develop and learn as new members of the editing team.
Kim Sejeong scored On Ma Eum and Goo Joon Young’s chemistry 100 out of 100 marks, saying, “Our [characters] are such distinct novices that I think the audience would find them incredibly charming.” I find myself smiling unconsciously when I’m with Nam Yoon Su.”
“For the time being, I give them 70 points for chemistry,” Nam Yoon Su said. Because there is still a lot of chemistry to be filled, I’d want to save the remaining 30 points for the finish of the drama.”
“Today’s Webtoon” will launch on Viki with subtitles on July 29 at 10 p.m. KST.
