Wimbledon 2021 Andy Murray beats Oscar Otte in Second-Round Thriller. Andy Murray’s Wimbledon campaign began on Wednesday with a stunning comeback victory over Oscar Otte, a German qualifier.

Despite taking control of the World No. 151 sets and break, Murray appeared to be creating an unwanted history as he surrendered his following two sets on a fresh stunning night of drama at Center Court to a Wimbledon rookie.

Ranked world’s 118th eventually managed to win against German onslaught 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 at 10:26.

When the performance was delayed to find an alternate line judge, the evening’s odd nature was reaffirmed. Murray sobbed in pain in the second game of the fourth set after falling on the grass in the middle, then slipping again, stating that the surface was “extremely dangerous.”

The play was halted around 9 p.m., and the roof was closed for the fourth match, which ended 2-2. The change worked in the first round, as Murray came back to overcome Basilashvili. After a 17-minute delay, the Scot broke quickly, passed it back, and the winner claimed the game. Murray ended on a high note.

Otte made his Wimbledon debut for the third day straight, taking the second decisive break in the All England Club’s history and taking on the marathon against fellow qualifier Arthur Rinderknecht.

Murray, who hobbled out of Wimbledon four years ago, was badly handicapped by ongoing health issues and a lack of match play in Wimbledon this year. Following a fourth-round loss to Sam Querrey.

However, the two-time Wimbledon winner maintained his winning streak following a dramatic victory against the 24th seed Basilashvili when the roof closed 2-2 in the fourth and won eleven of the next 14 games to go to the third round in three hours and 51 minutes.

Andy Murray in Post Match Interview:

“I enjoyed the end the middle part not so much, but yeah, I mean what an atmosphere to play in at the end I mean, the whole crow’s amazing, but there are a few guys in there who were getting me fired up, and yeah I mean i needed everyone’s help tonight and yeah they did a great job and yeah I’ve hit some great shots at the end to finish it but it was a tough match”
