DaBaby Booted from Lollapalooza after Homophobic Comments. Jonathan Kirk, a Grammy-nominated musician, was slated to close out the four-day music festival in downtown Chicago on Sunday night. Young Thug will play at 9 p.m. instead, according to Lollapalooza organizers, who tweeted the news on Sunday.
According to organizers, “Lollapalooza was built on the principles of diversity, inclusion, respect, and love.” Consequently, DaBaby will not be playing at Grant Park on Wednesday, July 18.
DaBaby delivered the comments during a performance at Miami’s Rolling Loud Festival on Sunday. Madonna, Questlove, and Elton John have all condemned the statements.
In an Instagram post message, Dua Lipa stated she was “surprised and appalled” by
DaBaby’s words.
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two or three weeks, put your cellphone light in the air.”
“Ladies, if your p**** smell like water, put your cellphone light in the air. Fellas, if you ain’t suck a n**** d*** in the parking lot, put your cellphone lights in the air. Keep it f****** real.”
DaBaby has received support from at least one celebrity.
In response to Lil Nas X’s video and his living his truth, rapper T.I. remarked on Instagram, “You’re going to damn sure have individuals like DaBaby who’ll speak their truth.”
According to the artist, “everything I do at a live concert is for the crowd at the live show,” and that critics should “shut up.” When someone sees a five- or six-second footage from their god**** crib, it will never translate accurately. That’s just not how it works.”
It didn’t matter what you mother******* were saying or how the internet had misinterpreted my mother******* remarks, me and all of my fans, gay and straight, cranked it up.
“I’m talking about my buddy that was at the front of stage left, where I jumped him,” the rapper added. The entire time he was recording, he got clippings all on his s***. The whole night was spent in a trance.
